Computer Basics

  • Are you new to computers? Then this is the class for you. This class will teach participants the fundamentals of using a computer and how to perform basic computer skills and functions including operating a mouse and keyboard. Prerequisite: None. For beginners with no computer experience.

Windows 10

  • Transitioning to a new Windows operating system can be a little bit confusing. If you've recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or Windows 8, then this is the class for you! You'll learn how to navigate through the different features of Windows 10.

Typing

  • The keyboard is one of the computer’s basic communication tools. Enhance your typing skills with this easy tutorial. Prerequisite: Participants should know how to use a mouse.

Email

  • Learn how to set up your own free e-mail account. Learn to send, receive, reply and forward e- mail messages. Practice opening and saving attachments, organizing messages in folders and creating a contact list. Prerequisite: Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.

Internet

  • Dive into the World Wide Web using Google Chrome. Learn how to use search engines to perform simple searches and find websites. Navigate through web pages and evaluate web sites. Learn basic online etiquette and Internet Safety. Prerequisite: Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.

Excel 2013

  • An introductory class to the use of spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel 2013. Participants will learn how to create and edit a simple spreadsheet and how to perform simple formatting techniques. Prerequisite: Participants should have basic computer and typing skills.

Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Learn the elemental components of Microsoft PowerPoint to give presentations for business and fun. Participants will learn how to add flair to their basic presentations with clip art, slide transitions and design templates. Prerequisite: Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.

Word 2013

  • An introductory class to word processing using Microsoft Word 2013. Learn how to create simple documents, enter and format text, save and use simple shortcuts. Prerequisite: Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.

Downloading E-books

  • This class will show you how to successfully search and download library e-books to your e- reader. Please bring your e-reader and any cords needed to connect it to the computer. Prerequisite: Participants should have basic computer and typing skills.

Online Genealogy

  • Staff with extensive experience in genealogy research will help guide you through online resources as you search for your ancestry. Prerequisite: Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.

Library Catalog & Interlibrary Loan

  • Take this class to make sure you get the most out of working with the library catalog and website. We will guide you through the search process to easily find the item you are looking for and show you how to put items on hold from other libraries. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills.

Google Drive and Docs

  • Learn about Google Drive and Google Docs online services. Google Drive is a cloud storage service that allows you to store your documents, photos, videos online in one place. Google Docs allows you to create, share and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, presentations from anywhere. Prerequisite: Participants should have a Gmail account and basic computer skills.

Online Library Collections

  • The library offers digital magazines, videos, music, audio books and e-books, all available to use 24-7 at home or on-the-go with your mobile device. This class will cover Zinio Magazines, Hoopla Media, 3M Cloud Library and Overdrive E-books. Prerequisite: Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.

Tablets & Mobile Apps

  • Students will learn about tablet computers and explore this newer technology. Feel free to bring your own tablet computer if you have one, but if you do not, you will have a chance to watch a demonstration on an Android tablet computer. A mobile application (or app) is a software application designed to run on smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices. This class will give you a basic understanding on what apps are and will introduce you to different kinds of apps. Prerequisite: Participants should bring their own tablet and cords if they have one. Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.

Blogging

  • Blogging has become one of the most popular ways to communicate on the Internet. Enhance your blogging skills with this class. Prerequisite: Participants should have basic computer skills and be comfortable with using the Internet.

Website Building Basics

  • Interested in creating a website to promote your business or yourself? It’s not difficult to make a nice looking website and increase your presence on the World Wide Web. We will guide you through the process of creating and editing a website. Participants should know how to use a mouse and be comfortable with using the Internet.

Resume Rehab

  • Not getting the results that you want with your current résumé? Don't have a résumé at all? This is the class for you! You'll receive tips on how to spruce up your résumé so that potential employers with be more likely to notice you. Also learn how to save your résumé and attach it to an email/upload it to a job hunting website. Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic computer and typing skills.
