It's that time of year again! School's out, summer reading program's in, and we'd love your family to join in the fun for all ages with us.
Our sign-up period has begun and we are excited to see as many new and returning readers as possible. To sign your child up, simply bring them to the Children's Library. Your child will make a reading goal in hours for the summer (minimum of ten hours) and they will receive a book log so they can note when they read. When they reach the halfway point of their goal, please bring your child and their book log to the library for their first reward. Each child who completes half of their reading goal will receive two tickets to a Gateway Grizzlies baseball game at GCS Ballpark. There are three games to choose from and they will be held on July 28th, August 18th, and August 25th. Your family will choose a game and return your ticket coupon to the Gateway Grizzlies. When your child has achieved their reading goal, come and visit us again for their final rewards! In addition, all children who finish the program are invited to our celebratory carnival which will be on Saturday July 25th from 12-4pm. Kids will have the opportunity to spend their game tickets they have earned through reading and attending events, and we will have St. Louis Cardinals tickets for our lucky prize winners.
The only programs that require advance sign-up are our cooking camps. This year we are hosting three camps in conjunction with University of Illinois Extension Services. The first camp begins June 1st, and space is limited, so call today and sign up.
Brochures for both our children's and adult/teen programs are available at the library, and our online events calendar can be viewed on our website http://www.collinsvillelibrary.org/
We hope to see you and your family this summer.
Did you know we have an online card catalog designed specifically for the ease of children's use?
The Polaris children's catalog allows kids to search for library materials by typical library terms such as title, author, and keyword, or children can browse by preset categories such as animals, people, places, and the arts.
Items can be reserved directly from the catalog, and sent to your local library. The online card catalog can be found at:
and it is available online 24/7.
If you have any questions navigating the site, please feel free to call us on 618 344 1112.
