We are honored to have the Illinois Poet Laureate, Kevin Stein, visiting the library this Thursday, November 5 at 6:30 PM!  If you enjoy reading or writing poetry, or if you enjoy creative writing, this is a must-see event!  Kevin will share several poems and wrap up with a question-and-answer session.

This event is free and advance registration is requested (but not required).  Please sign up by registering online, calling the library at 618-344-1112, or visiting the main desk.

As an ambassador for poetry, Kevin promotes awareness of poetry as well as heightens appreciation of the art form.  He is the Caterpillar Professor of English at Bradley University in Peoria, where he has served since 1984. He is also the director of Bradley's Creative Writing Program. Kevin has been the Illinois Poet Laureate since 2003, filling the position previously held by Gwendolyn Brooks, Carl Sandburg, and Howard Austin. He continues to write, with his newest collection, Wrestling Li Po for the Remote, appearing in spring 2013 from Chicago’s Fifth Star Press.
